Project Showcase: Edifying Beats

Edifying Beats Entertainment Website Redesign — UX Case Study

Project Overview

Edifying Beats Entertainment is a longtime client that we have had the privilege of supporting for several years. As the company evolved, its website needed to evolve with it. This project marked the second website redesign we completed for the brand, giving us an opportunity to build on our existing knowledge of the business, its audience, and its long-term goals.

The redesign focused on creating a more polished, energetic, and conversion-driven digital experience for people planning weddings, corporate gatherings, quinceañeras, Sweet 16 parties, school dances, and other milestone events throughout South Florida. The previous website had served the company well, but its structure and presentation no longer fully represented the experience, professionalism, and personality that Edifying Beats brings to every celebration.

Our challenge was to modernize the website without losing the recognition and trust the company had developed over the years. We reorganized the content, strengthened the visual hierarchy, simplified the inquiry process, and created clearer pathways to the company’s services. The result is a responsive website that communicates the energy of a live event while making it easy for visitors to explore services, review social proof, and request a quote.

The Product

Edifying Beats Entertainment is a professional South Florida DJ and event entertainment company specializing in weddings and milestone celebrations. In addition to DJ and MC services, the company offers enhancements such as uplighting, custom monogram projections, photo booths, projectors, screens, and dance floors.

The website serves as the company’s primary digital sales and lead-generation platform. It introduces prospective clients to the Edifying Beats experience, explains the available services, showcases previous celebrations, highlights customer reviews, and guides visitors toward booking a consultation or requesting a free quote.

Because event entertainment is both an emotional and high-consideration purchase, the product needed to do more than list services. It needed to build excitement, establish trust, answer common questions, and reassure visitors that Edifying Beats could professionally manage the timing, flow, energy, and entertainment of their event.

Project Duration

2 months

The project included discovery, stakeholder interviews, website analysis, audience research, information architecture, content planning, wireframing, interface design, responsive development, testing, revisions, and launch preparation.

The Problem

People searching for a DJ are often planning one of the most important celebrations of their lives. They are not simply comparing playlists or equipment; they are deciding whom they can trust to manage the energy, announcements, transitions, and overall flow of an event that cannot be repeated.

The previous Edifying Beats website no longer reflected the maturity of the company or the quality of the experience it provided. Important services and differentiators were not always immediately clear, and visitors needed a faster way to determine whether the company served their event type and location.

Several core UX problems needed to be addressed:

  • Visitors could not immediately understand the complete value of Edifying Beats beyond DJ services.
  • The distinction between weddings, corporate events, quinceañeras, Sweet 16 parties, school dances, and add-on services needed to be clearer.
  • Key trust signals, including years of experience, customer reviews, event history, and service standards, needed greater visibility.
  • The website required stronger calls to action and a simpler path to requesting a quote.
  • The visual presentation needed to communicate celebration, energy, professionalism, and elegance.
  • Mobile visitors needed an easier way to browse services and take action without navigating through dense content.
  • The website needed a scalable structure that could support service-area content and long-term search visibility.

The redesign needed to balance emotion and efficiency. Visitors should feel excited by the experience while also being able to find practical information quickly.

The Goal

Our primary goal was to create a modern, user-centered website that accurately represented the Edifying Beats brand and converted more qualified visitors into inquiries.

The experience was designed to help users quickly answer five important questions:

  1. Does Edifying Beats provide entertainment for our type of event?
  2. Does the company serve our location?
  3. Can we trust the team to manage an important celebration?
  4. What makes Edifying Beats different from another DJ?
  5. How can we request information or begin planning?

From a business perspective, the redesign aimed to improve service discovery, strengthen credibility, support local SEO, increase engagement with the company’s event portfolio, and make booking a call or requesting a quote feel like a natural next step.

Our Role

UX Designers, Website Strategists and Creative Directors

We led the overall experience strategy and creative direction for the redesign. Because this was our second website redesign for Edifying Beats, we were also responsible for preserving the strongest elements of our established relationship while identifying where the digital experience needed to change.

Our work connected the company’s business goals with user expectations, content strategy, visual design, conversion strategy, search visibility, and responsive website development.

Our Responsibilities

Our responsibilities included:

  • Leading project discovery and stakeholder conversations
  • Reviewing the previous website and identifying usability issues
  • Defining the primary and secondary user groups
  • Researching user expectations within the event entertainment industry
  • Organizing services into a clearer information architecture
  • Mapping the visitor journey from discovery to inquiry
  • Developing the page hierarchy, wireframes, and conversion pathways
  • Directing the visual style and overall interface design
  • Establishing consistent typography, colors, imagery, buttons, and content patterns
  • Improving mobile navigation and responsive layouts
  • Positioning reviews, experience, and event photography as trust signals
  • Planning calls to action for booking a call and requesting a free quote
  • Coordinating content, design, development, SEO, and quality assurance
  • Testing the website across common screen sizes and devices
  • Gathering client feedback and refining the final experience

Understanding the User

User Research

Our research focused on understanding how prospective clients evaluate entertainment providers and what information gives them enough confidence to make contact.

Because Edifying Beats had been a client for several years, we combined new UX research with our existing knowledge of the company, its services, its customers, and the questions prospective clients commonly ask.

Our research approach included:

  • Stakeholder interviews to identify business goals, service priorities, and recurring customer questions
  • A content and usability audit of the previous website
  • Competitive analysis of wedding and event entertainment websites
  • Review analysis to identify the qualities customers valued most
  • Search-intent analysis for wedding DJs and event entertainment in South Florida
  • Mobile-first reviews of navigation, readability, and contact pathways
  • User-flow analysis for visitors arriving through the homepage, service pages, and location-focused pages
  • Heuristic evaluation covering clarity, consistency, navigation, accessibility, feedback, and error prevention

UX Metrics

The following UX metrics were selected to evaluate the effectiveness of the redesigned experience:

UX MetricWhat It Measures
Quote-request conversion rateThe percentage of visitors who submit an inquiry

User Research Summary

Our research indicated that prospective customers want to feel both excitement and reassurance. They are attracted to energetic event photography and videos, but they also need practical evidence that the company is experienced, organized, professional, and capable of managing an event from beginning to end.

Wedding clients often prioritize reliability, communication, personalization, and seamless coordination. Parents planning quinceañeras, Sweet 16 parties, or school events place additional importance on clean, age-appropriate music. Corporate planners need punctuality, professional presentation, and confidence that the entertainment will complement the company’s desired tone.

Across these audiences, users wanted clear service information, authentic reviews, examples of previous events, geographic availability, and a simple, low-pressure way to begin a conversation.

Pain Points

Unclear Service Differentiation

Visitors needed to understand that Edifying Beats offers more than music. Professional MC services, event guidance, room awareness, timing, and energy management are central to the complete experience.

Difficulty Evaluating Trust

Hiring a DJ requires considerable trust. Users needed visible proof of experience, successful events, positive reviews, and professional standards before submitting an inquiry.

Fragmented Event Information

Different audiences have different needs. Wedding couples, corporate coordinators, parents planning quinceañeras or Sweet 16 parties, and school administrators should not have to sort through the same generalized information.

Uncertainty About Service Areas

Visitors needed immediate confirmation that Edifying Beats serves Miami, Fort Lauderdale, Boca Raton, West Palm Beach, the Florida Keys, and surrounding South Florida communities.

Too Much Effort Before Contact

Users should not have to search for the next step. Quote and consultation options needed to remain prominent throughout the experience.

Mobile Usability

Many users research event vendors from their phones. Long sections, small controls, unclear navigation, or difficult forms can quickly cause mobile visitors to leave.

Emotional Disconnect

A generic service website would not adequately represent a celebration-focused business. The digital experience needed to feel lively and memorable while remaining refined and easy to use.

User Persona

Primary Persona: Ashley — The Engaged Event Planner

Age: 31
Location: Fort Lauderdale, Florida
Occupation: Marketing Coordinator
Event: A wedding reception for approximately 150 guests
Devices: Smartphone for initial research and laptop for detailed comparisons
Digital behavior: Searches Google, reads reviews, visits Instagram, compares galleries, and saves several vendors before making contact.

Background

Ashley is planning her wedding while working full time. She wants a reception that feels personal, polished, and energetic, but she has limited experience hiring entertainment. She understands that the DJ will influence the entire atmosphere of the reception and is concerned about choosing someone dependable.

Goals

  • Find an experienced South Florida wedding DJ
  • Keep the dance floor active throughout the reception
  • Make sure announcements and transitions feel natural
  • Personalize the music without managing every song
  • Confirm availability, services, and pricing
  • Feel confident before scheduling a consultation

Frustrations

  • DJ websites that feel outdated or unprofessional
  • Unclear pricing and inquiry processes
  • Generic claims without reviews or examples
  • Vendors who focus on equipment instead of the guest experience
  • Difficulty determining whether the DJ will understand her preferred style
  • Concern about awkward announcements, poor timing, or inappropriate music

Needs

  • Clear wedding-specific information
  • Genuine testimonials and real event imagery
  • An explanation of the planning process
  • Evidence of experience and professionalism
  • Easy access to a consultation or quote request
  • Confidence that the DJ can read the room and adapt in real time

Quote

“We want everyone to have an amazing time, but we also need someone we can trust to keep the entire reception flowing smoothly.”

Problem Statement

Ashley is a busy bride planning a South Florida wedding who needs a fast and reliable way to evaluate an experienced DJ because she wants confidence that the music, announcements, timing, and energy of her reception will be handled professionally.

More broadly, event planners need an easy way to identify the correct entertainment service, assess the company’s credibility, visualize the experience, and begin a conversation without navigating through unclear or overly generalized information.

Key UX Decisions

Event-Based Navigation

Services were organized by recognizable event types so visitors could quickly select the content most relevant to their needs.

Dual Conversion Paths

“Book a Call” supports visitors who are ready for a conversation, while “Get a Free Quote” provides a direct option for visitors who prefer to submit their information first.

Early Trust Signals

More than 100 five-star reviews, over 25 years of experience, wedding expertise, and more than 1,000 completed events were positioned prominently to establish credibility.

Scannable Content

Short sections, descriptive headings, service cards, and visible calls to action make the experience easier to navigate and understand.

Experience-Focused Messaging

The copy explains that Edifying Beats manages timing, flow, energy, announcements, and guest engagement—not simply a playlist.

Authentic Imagery

Real event photography helps users visualize the atmosphere and understand the quality of the Edifying Beats experience.

Responsive Design

Navigation, images, buttons, forms, and content layouts were optimized for mobile, tablet, and desktop use.

Local Relevance

South Florida locations were incorporated throughout the experience to confirm availability and support local search visibility.

The Impact

The redesigned website gives Edifying Beats a digital presence that more accurately reflects the company it has become. It presents the brand as an established, experienced, and energetic entertainment partner rather than simply another DJ service.

The redesigned experience:

  • Creates a stronger and more professional first impression
  • Makes event-specific services easier to discover
  • Clearly communicates the company’s geographic coverage
  • Gives customer reviews and industry experience greater visibility
  • Explains the value of professional timing, flow, MC guidance, and room awareness
  • Helps visitors visualize their celebrations through real event imagery
  • Simplifies the journey from initial interest to consultation or quote request
  • Provides a more intuitive mobile experience
  • Supports future service, location, and SEO content
  • Strengthens the long-term digital foundation of the Edifying Beats brand

Because this was our second redesign for Edifying Beats, the project also demonstrates the value of an ongoing agency-client relationship. We were not learning the brand from the beginning; we were helping an established client advance to the next stage of its growth.

What We Learned

This project reinforced that redesigning a longtime client’s website is not simply about giving an older website a newer appearance. A successful redesign must recognize how the company, its customers, its positioning, and its competitive environment have changed.

We learned the importance of preserving brand familiarity while being willing to rethink the content hierarchy and customer journey. Existing customers should still recognize the company, while new visitors should immediately understand its current value.

The project also demonstrated that event-industry websites must balance emotion with clarity. Photography, movement, and energetic visuals create excitement, but users still need straightforward information about services, experience, locations, planning, and next steps.

Most importantly, we learned that the strongest UX website decisions came from understanding what customers were truly purchasing. Edifying Beats does not simply sell music. The company provides confidence, coordination, energy, and peace of mind for celebrations that matter deeply to its clients. The redesigned experience was built to communicate that value at every stage of the user journey.

To be honest, the Newman Team had been telling me to update my website for quite some time. I was reluctant to change and only regret I did not listen sooner. The new site is amazing! My parents rave about how much easier it is to navigate especially when accessing from cell phones. Completely shifted the energy of our online experience bringing us into the future.
